Student Mentor

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Student Mentor to support and guide students in foster/kinship care in their academic and personal development. The ideal candidate will have a passion for education and experience working with children or young adults. As a Student Mentor, you will play a crucial role in creating a positive learning environment, helping students navigate challenges, and encouraging their growth. This position is located full time in a public high school setting.

Location: Hiring in Putnam, Lincoln and Kanawha counties (Click on each county to pull up the Indeed listing)

Note: this position is full time from June 15th - August 1st of each school year. There is a 6-week period of unpaid time off in the summer while school is out of session.

Adoption Recruiter

The Mission West Virginia Wendy’s Wonderful Kids Recruiter works to find permanent families for youth waiting in the foster care system. The Recruiter builds relationships with their youth through monthly visits and regular contact and follows a child-focused recruitment model to focus on achieving permanency for some of our longest-waiting WV youth. Multiple positions being hired across the state of West Virginia.

Location: Home-based position with regular statewide travel and periodic reporting to Hurricane, WV office. Any telework arrangements will follow company policy. Some national and overnight travel. Must hold a valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required, Masters degree in social work preferred. Minimum of three years’ experience in child welfare, experience working with adolescents preferred. Extensive professional experience in direct service and/or life experience may be considered in lieu of social work certification requirement

Adolescent Health Educator

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people? Do you have a knack for teaching and engaging with teens? If so, we want you to be part of our THINK program! 

As a THINK Educator, you will play a vital role in delivering impactful education on teen pregnancy prevention and healthy relationships. You’ll utilize evidenced based curricula to empower students with knowledge and skills, fostering a safe and supportive learning environment. 

Location: Hiring 2 in Cabell County and 1 in Kanawha County

Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in Health, Sociology, Social Work, Human Services, Education, or a related field is preferred. Relevant experience in leading or instructing groups is essential. A valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance are required.

Youth Support Advocate

Mission West Virginia’s THINK Program is excited to announce an opening for a full-time THINK Youth Support Advocate. Our THINK Program is at the forefront of teen pregnancy prevention, healthy relationship education, and positive youth development across West Virginia. We are seeking a compassionate, driven individual to provide crucial support services, resources, and guidance to youth facing a range of challenges including trauma and emotional or psychological difficulties.

Location: Hiring in Putnam and Kanawha counties

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related mental health field. Master’s degree preferred.

  • 1 to 3 years of direct service experience in mental health with professional licensure (e.g., LSW, LPC).

  • Familiarity with community resources for adolescents and mental health issues.

  • Based in the MWV main office or a home office, with required travel across THINK service areas and occasional national travel.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance.
